“I think there's no higher calling in terms of a career than public service, which is a chance to make a difference in people's lives and improve the world.”
- Jack Lew, Attorney and former United States Secretary of the Treasury
Did you know that Public Service Recognition Week is being celebrated this week? Each year during the first week of May, we honor the dedicated men and women who serve their communities and answer the call of public service, including our passionate Suffolk AME brothers and sisters. Our Suffolk AME members not only touch and improve the lives of every Suffolk County resident through their work, but also provide the vital services that our friends, neighbors, and loved ones depend on to thrive.
Every day, Suffolk AME members face risks associated with their critically important roles within the County. Recently, many of our members worked to fight wildfires that burned along Sunrise Highway, both in their official capacities and as volunteer firefighters. Our members regularly enter the homes of those who may be in distress and in need of assistance, attend crime scenes, provide critical environmental testing, and so much more. We take this moment to commend the bravery of all Suffolk AME brothers and sisters and recognize that through their work, our members help to uphold the safety of our community.
Suffolk AME members are the backbone of this great County, working every day to ensure a safer, more beautiful, and fully operational community for us all. Today, and every day, we at Suffolk AME offer our sincere thanks to our altruistic members. We thank you for all that you do in the spirit of selflessness and dedication to our community. Suffolk works because we do!
