COUNTY LETTER RE: CONDUENT BREACH IMPACTING EMHP PARTICIPANTS

A recently sent letter from Suffolk County EMHP, which can be found by clicking here, announces that: 

Members of the EMHP of Suffolk County have been notified by mail from a company called Conduent Business Services, LLC, that their protected health information (PHI) may have been compromised in a data breach.  The breach occurred between October 21, 2024, and January 13, 2025, during the period when EMHP was administered by Anthem for Hospital/Medical/Surgical claims processing.

Please follow the recommended steps outlined in your notification letter, including activating the “free credit monitoring services” provided by Conduent.

• Discovery & Timing: The incident was discovered on January 13, 2025, but unauthorized access to the network occurred between October 21, 2024, and January 13, 2025.

• Information Impacted: Compromised data includes names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, treatment/diagnosis descriptions, and claim numbers.

• Who is Affected: Individuals associated with Conduent's clients, including many government agencies, healthcare plans, and Fortune 100 companies, are receiving notices.

• Actions Taken: Conduent has notified law enforcement, secured its systems, and is providing two years of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services.

• What to Do: If you receive a letter, activate the free credit monitoring services immediately.
