Suffolk AME is proud to recognize and express our sincere gratitude to the hardworking members of our Department of Public Works and Parks Department who collaborated tirelessly to plan, rebuild, and improve the beloved Cupsogue Beach Pavilion.
The original pavilion, a cherished landmark and gathering place at Cupsogue Beach, was lost to fire in 2014. For more than a decade, the beach operated with temporary facilities, including restrooms, concessions, staff offices, emergency medical technicians, and lifeguard stations, to ensure visitors could still enjoy the oceanfront park's beauty and safety.
This new and beautifully designed pavilion marks a milestone, not only restoring a vital community asset but also enhancing the experience for every visitor. It will serve as a welcoming hub for beachgoers and provide essential support for the dedicated staff who care for our park’s safety and operations.
At a recent Public Works, Transportation and Energy Committee Meeting, Suffolk AME Government Relations Director Ben Zwirn spoke on record personally to thank our members who contributed to this project, shining light on the in-house design of the project and offering a shout-out to the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners alongside our members.
Ben’s sentiments were echoed by the Committee Chair, Legislator Nick Caracappa, who also thanked our members for their hard work.
Our members in Public Works and Parks don’t just maintain infrastructure; they provide core programs and services that enable our friends, neighbors, and loved ones to thrive. They work behind the scenes to grant access to Suffolk County’s natural treasures, including our stunning shores, ensuring these spaces remain vibrant, accessible, and safe for generations to come.
Thank you to all who made this vision a reality. Your commitment enriches our community and preserves the special places we all hold dear.
