As we observe Suicide Prevention Awareness Month this September, Suffolk AME wants to take a moment to acknowledge that we stand firmly beside our members during difficult times. We encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out and take advantage of the mental and behavioral health resources available to you. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and support is always within reach.
► Optum Behavioral Health, EMHP Participants: EMHP participants can access services through Optum Behavioral Health, which provides Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder benefits, a 24-hour crisis line, referral services, and claims services. The phone number is 1.800.765.6709 and the information is also on the back of your health insurance card, or at www.liveandworkwell.com.
► Optum Behavioral Health Substance Use Helpline (855) 780-5955: EMHP participants can call (855) 780-5955 to get anonymous support 24/7 from an advocate who is trained in substance use care and recovery. They can help you find treatment, typically within 24 hours.
► Optum Crisis Support Resources: Optum Behavioral Health offers a range of crisis support resources on their website, including guides for coping with trauma and lists of local resources for various situations. Visit www.liveandworkwell.com and sign in, then click "Crisis Support" in the navigation menu at the top of the page.
► The Calm App: Through Optum Behavioral Health, EMHP Participants have access to the Calm App, which helps participants to stress less, sleep better, and live mindfully through self-guided, app-based digital programs written by psychologists. To sign up for Calm, visit www.liveandworkwell.com and sign in, then click "View My Benefits" and click on "Mental Health" under "Browse All Benefits" to find the tab for the Calm App.
► Mental Health Care Recommendations: Through the Optum Behavioral Health website, participants can use the Recommended Care Options tool to find help for themselves or a loved one by answering a brief and confidential survey. The tool can make it easier to find the right support and will show you benefits and resources that may meet your needs. Visit www.liveandworkwell.com and sign in, then click "View My Benefits", scroll down, and click the "Mental Health" dropdown menu to find "Recommended Care Options".
► Call or Text 988: Call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline if you or a loved one has a mental health or substance use crisis. Call 911 if you have an immediate life-threatening emergency.
